TRACE 700

TRACE 700 Software Support Update

Trane is committed to supporting our customers with reliable, high‑quality building energy modeling tools. As we continue to expand and enhance the capabilities of TRACE®, we are updating our long‑term support approach for TRACE 700.

TRACE 700 Will Remain Available

TRACE 700 will continue to be available as a mature, trusted building energy modeling solution while we build out full functionality in TRACE. Customers may continue using TRACE 700 for modeling needs during this transition period.

Future Migration to TRACE

Once TRACE reaches feature parity with TRACE 700, customers will be able to migrate their TRACE 700 and TRACE 3D Plus project files into TRACE and continue their work in the modern platform.

During migration:

  • Building geometry, constructions, and internal loads will transfer into TRACE.
  • Other project inputs—such as system configurations, schedules, and detailed mechanical selections—will need to be re‑entered in TRACE to complete the project file.

We will provide clear guidance and support materials to help users plan for a smooth and efficient transition.

TRACE 3D Plus

TRACE 3D Plus will receive one final major release—Version 8. After this release, the application will transition to a general maintenance and technical support phase.

There is no defined sunset date for TRACE 3D Plus at this time. Customers may continue using the tool with

Access to TRACE Tools Through a CDS TRACE Subscription

A CDS TRACE subscription provides customers with access to:

  • TRACE 700
  • TRACE 3D Plus
  • The next‑generation cloud‑based TRACE platform

This consolidated subscription model supports a smoother transition by:

  • Ensuring customers can work in all relevant TRACE applications during the development and migration period
  • Reducing the need to maintain multiple subscriptions or licenses (“double billing”)
  • Allowing continued access to legacy projects created in older versions of TRACE
  • Providing a single, streamlined path into the future of Trane’s building energy modeling tools

Our Commitment to Customers

Trane will continue investing in the evolution of TRACE to deliver enhanced modeling performance, streamlined workflows, and expanded capabilities. Maintaining access to TRACE 700 and TRACE 3D Plus during this development period ensures customers can continue using proven tools while we deliver the next generation of building energy modeling technology.
